Detailing in 4 phases
Detailing can generally be divided into two categories: interior detailing and exterior detailing. Each area uses its own specific techniques and products. Professional detailing studios use far more expensive, higher-quality products — from car-wash products, special cloths, sponges, brushes and applicators, to interior-cleaning products, where every type of material and surface is cleaned and protected with its own dedicated product. There's no single product for a complete car detail, because not every car suits the same treatment. Just as not every man suits the same aftershave, or every woman the same face cream. Sounds familiar? It certainly does. Just as you can't clean your entire home with a single cleaning product — everyone knows that. The detailing process has 4 phases: inspection, preparation, correction and protection.
You're probably wondering what the benefits of detailing are, and whether it's even worth the cost? Over time you'll start noticing more and more detail and always look for better — because once you've seen how good your car can look, you won't settle for less, and you'll start noticing the flaws in ordinary car washes, poorly done (semi-)chemical cleans, or polishing jobs. You'll also know how to keep your car looking like the day you bought it, or restore its shine, raising its value along the way through a different approach to maintenance. Most of you are probably still wondering why you'd pay a bit more, when today, through various online platforms, you can buy a complete chemical car clean, polish and the like at very tempting prices — sometimes 2 or 3 times lower than what top detailers charge. And how many of you have been left disappointed when your car came back half-done, with visible dirt, wet seats and carpets, or a musty smell? Not to mention unprofessional polishing jobs that only cause more damage. In the end, fixing the resulting damage costs you more — not just in money, but in time — than if you'd gone straight to a proven studio whose years of work and satisfied customers guarantee top-quality service, where the price reflects the quality, professionalism and expertise.
Process
Inspection → Preparation → Correction → Protection
Inspection
In the inspection phase, we first assess the overall condition of the entire vehicle to identify any imperfections and damage. Only after the inspection can we present the situation to the client — how much time the work will take, what can and can't be corrected, and what type of protection they want on their vehicle (see the table under Nano Ceramic Protection), as this also affects the final price. Paint requires a special inspection method: its thickness, i.e. the number of microns, must be measured, which depends on the quality of the factory or subsequent paintwork. After measuring the thickness, the paint is examined under a SCANGRIP lamp that simulates sunlight and reveals imperfections such as swirl marks and holograms.
Preparation
Thorough, high-quality preparation makes the following work easier, allows for flawless correction and prevents additional imperfections from occurring. In this phase, the vehicle's exterior and interior are thoroughly cleaned of dust, mud and other dirt, while the paint is decontaminated using active foam, a dedicated clay bar, and products for removing tar, tree sap, bird droppings and insect residue.
Correction
Correction most often refers to the vehicle's paintwork. It's a highly complex process of removing paint imperfections such as swirl marks and holograms. The combination of modern equipment, quality products and expert knowledge is what guarantees a job well done.
Protection
Protection is a very important part of detailing, because ultimately it shields your car from all weather effects, making maintenance far easier and simpler. As a certified GTECHNIQ detailer for ceramic coatings, here's why it's worth choosing this kind of protection. Ceramic coating is applied regardless of whether the car is new or older, but only when the owner wants a flawless paint condition and isn't willing to compromise. A ceramic coating on the paint surface protects better than any wax or polishing paste — high gloss and resistance to damage are the two main reasons for applying it. Unlike wax, which only sits on the paint surface, ceramic coating penetrates the paint's pores and bonds with its structure at a molecular level. That bond is therefore much stronger, making the paint protection long-lasting — a GTECHNIQ ceramic coating lasts anywhere from 5 to as much as 9 years. Excellent results for anyone who cares about how their car looks. Ceramic protection guards against minor damage, inadequate maintenance, bird droppings and dried insect residue that can etch into the paint. After application, the surface becomes hydrophobic, doesn't attract dirt, and has a self-cleaning effect. Before applying a ceramic coating, the car is prepared — this should always be left to professionals and never attempted at home. After the protective ceramic layer is applied, the paint (especially metallic colours) often looks even better than when it left the showroom. For the most lasting protection, the car should be maintained regularly after ceramic coating is applied: wash it regularly without harsh, corrosive products, or do it yourself with a pressure washer. It's better to visit the car wash more often than to neglect the car and only then take it for a “deep clean” with acidic products that can damage the surface layer of protection.
